Local entrepreneurship is not a trend for me, but a conscious choice. From day one I decided: Coconne candles are made here, with materials from here, by people from here. No mass production in China, no impersonal factories, but craftsmanship and collaboration with Belgian suppliers. And certainly with the current political and economic situation, that feels more important than ever.
From raw material to end product: everything Belgian
At Coconne, no component comes from low-wage countries. Our concrete containers are cast here, and even the packaging is produced locally. This not only means a lower ecological footprint, but also that we work with companies that guarantee fair wages and good working conditions.
I also know all the people behind the products personally. I like to have a coffee with the people who make my molds, an extensive chat with the people who supply the cork pens, a visit to the packaging factory when the Coconne boxes are produced, etc.
I don't work with any anonymous contact via email, only with real people with passion for their profession. It's great to work with them and learn from them!
